Inaugurated in 2014 – and with the objective of contributing to technological innovation at the service of cancer patients -, the Teaching and Research Center (NEP) is the Mário Penna Institute unit responsible for the development of research into new technologies that impact on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of cancer.
The NEP has a sophisticated system of equipment for genetic and cellular analysis of cancer, in addition to a biorepository, which consists of human biological material collected and stored throughout the execution of a research project.
Defined as a fundamental part of the Instituto Mário Penna’s strategic planning, the research activity, through the NEP, involves a multidisciplinary professional body, including members of the clinical staff who work in the investigation and production of data, generating knowledge and advances in the field of oncology.
Teaching
Inaugurated in 2019 – and with the objective of making the institution a reference in courses aimed at health professionals and physicians, taking advantage of the Mário Penna Institute’s expertise in oncology, in addition to contributing to the training of more specialized professionals and increasing the Institute’s revenue.
