Breastfeeding is one of the most sublime moments between mother and child and breast milk provides all the necessary vitamins and nutrients in the baby’s first months of life. Thinking about the well-being of both, in addition to complying with the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health, the Mário Penna Institute inaugurated, on August 31, a fully designed and adapted space so that breastfeeding employees can withdraw and store breast milk correctly and safely during the working period.
The inauguration of the Lactation Room is an institutional milestone, where we reinforce our humanized look at the collaborators, taking into account that 70% of our team is made up of women.
“The Lactation Room will provide for the removal of milk while the employee is at work. We know that the more you withdraw, the more you produce and, with that, the baby will breastfeed for a longer time. In this way, we can bring the mother the comfort of emptying the breast and feeding her child with her milk, something so important at this early stage of life”; highlights Gizelle Mesquita, Coordinator of Humanization and Hospital Psychology.
The Lactation Room is located in a reserved and comfortable space, inside the Living Space. The place has chairs, a fridge to store milk and a sink so that moms can perform the cleaning.
The mother who wants to use the space must get the key in the Humanization sector. We hope our collaborators make good use of it!
